2025 brings pivotal opportunities for advancing Europe’s social agenda. However, these commitments come at a time where an emphasis on competitiveness and defence risks overshadowing social objectives.

We are disappointed that the EU Commission's strong focus on competition has led to a de-prioritisation of the EU’s social agenda.

While Social Platform is pleased to see some of our vision for a more social Europe realised, barriers to social progress still threaten to overshadow these wins.  

Europe needs a renewed commitment to social progress, where everyone’s social rights are recognised and vindicated. This requires prioritising social policy and putting people first, where initiatives that champion eradicating poverty, promoting progress and building inclusive societies are top of the policy agenda.
