Storytelling in the new normal – How to translate experiences on the ground to EU level

The 10th edition of the Social Learning Platform brought our members together for a discussion on how to translate the stories of our respective constituencies to the EU level, with a particular focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Members shared good practices for collecting and communicating messages from the ground, including through regular online meetings, blogs and social media campaigns.

Members also expressed the need for more audiovisual tools to transmit the impact of the pandemic, and raised concerns about how to balance telling the story of people in vulnerable situations without being deemed as patronising them and making them seem less empowered than they actually are.

Finally, members discussed the need to sustain the momentum around communications of the pandemic’s impact on our constituencies, as the effects will be felt for many years to come.
