Defining our position on employment

At the second employment Working Group held last week members discussed the structure and content of our employment position paper. It was said that it is important to frame our position in the context of today's reality and that we should take a rights-based approach, looking also at the right to work. Furthermore, it was agreed that next to a special focus on employment in the white sector (the care sector in particular), we should also have a specific position on the social economy.

Over the next few months, we will develop with our members this common position on employment. We will address this theme from five different angles: access to, creation of, quality of, and progression in employment, as well as the involvement of NGOs in their field of expertise.

Many of our members are already looking at employment issues, in their own organisations, from the perspective of social inclusion and cohesion. This work will feed into our common position.
