A narrative for the common good

Last week all of our members were invited to discuss together the launch of our task forces. These are meant to implement our 2014 priorities: the need to amend the recently published communication on new EU migration policy, how to ensure the sustainability and financing of social services, the campaign towards amending the Council decision on hate crime and the need to have a real civil dialogue at EU level where proposals from civil society organisations are seriously taken into account.

We did not stop there.

We all recognise that the mid-term review of the Europe 2020 strategy is a key stepping stone for requesting a better balance between social and economic policies and that the latter should serve the wellbeing of all people. Members also agreed that the EU should have an internal human rights strategy to address the many violations within the member states. Human rights should be the corner stone of all of EU policies.

For someone from the outside these may appear very specific objectives and in fact quite a lot of activities for a network like ours.  But one member made it clear for everybody else: all that we discussed together during this half day was part of something bigger: a new narrative for the common good.

Let’s engage
