Cooperation between Social Platform and the European Institute for Gender Equality
On March 20 Social Platform members met with the European Institute for Gender Equality (http://www.eige.europa.eu/) to discuss our future cooperation. EIGE staff presented their work on Gender Equality, gender mainstreaming and their focus areas under the Presidencies of the EU Council where they collect data and statistics in the areas of the Beijing Platform for Actions. The meeting was very appreciated and the Director Virginija Langbaak concluded that they will look into formalising some points for cooperation where we can meet on a yearly basis back to back with the institutes meetings with the FEMM Committee of the European Parliament.
The Director also accepted our invitation to speak at our conference and Networking Visit to Lithuania on ‘Social investment under the Lithuanian EU Presidency’ May 23 and to welcome our members for a visit to the Institute.
